Additionally, she designed the imagery for the promotion of Lalique perfumes, conceived to harmonise with the style of the flacons. Her crystal jewels, her handbags, and her silk scarves were very much appreciated, and more so as their affordable prices would allow many consumers to purchase them. A gifted innovator, always aware of the artistic movements and fashions of her time, Marie-Claude would nevertheless remain loyal to the Lalique spirit as her guide. However, because of the fragile state of her health, she retired in 1994, selling the crystalworks to the Pochet group. She passed away on 14 April 2003. Today, Lalique maintains the highest levels of creativity, and continues to produce exceptional objects, the likes of which René Lalique, that great master, would be immensely proud.

Marie-Claude took over the company after her father’s passing, becoming Chief Executive Officer while remaining the only creator. The crystalworks were still producing all the flacons for Nina Ricci perfumes, and in 1987, she sculpted the model for the perfume flacon Nina , one of her most beautiful creations, with its decorative motif of drapery inspired by the elegant and feminine evening gowns designed by the couture house. Meanwhile, the Art de la table , much in demand, was still an important factor in the factory’s output, and Marie-Claude created many new and successful models. For this, she was awarded The City of Paris Trophy for Creation, presented by then-mayor Jacques Chirac on 16 December 1988. She founded the Lalique perfume company in 1992 and launched her first perfume, Lalique de Lalique (Lalique by Lalique) in a flacon of her creation, which was a triumph. She would design all the ravishing flacons for the perfumes that followed, and would also choose the scents, proving her great olfactory talent.
