DECORATIVE OBJECTS

Act II: Night is falling Amidst the silence, nature stirs and glimmers in the moon’s reflection, as Lalique’s latest creations come into view. New fauna have joined the Empreinte Animale collection, a refuge for rare and fashionable species captured by the House’s crystal artisans. Whether lurking in emerald waters, shaded by brambly hills or dozing in knotty treetops, the specimens tamed by Lalique in crystal retain their freedom. Majestic, ferocious and enthralling, they are the masters of the savannah, nobles of tropical forests and sultans of the plains. Lalique has distilled the natural magnificence of these imposing animals, all experts in camouflage, through motifs highlighted by the House’s centenary expertise. The second chapter of the Empreinte Animale collection pairs well with contemporary interiors. This catalogue of wild creatures was not imagined by chance: it has its roots in a fascination with animals, explored by Lalique since its beginnings. Like flora and the female form, fauna was a central theme for René Lalique when he established his house in the 19th century. Today, animal life is growling back.

In this wildly creative second instalment, a subtly spotted vase recalls the elegance of black or white panthers playing hide-and-seek with light and shadow. This distinctive coat is crafted in hand-blown crystal with a meticulous polished satin finish, a technique wielded to perfection by Lalique’s talented artisans. A lovely play of transformations here recalls the hand-blown crystal magic that gave rise to the graphic lines of the Zèbre vase in the collection’s first chapter. This time, the zebra’s fur becomes a tiger’s coat, with a new, amber-hued parison. The piece is also available in two limited editions, enamelled with black or gold stripes.
